I thought putting my latest creation up here might encourage me to paint more, sorry about the photo it is a little wonky, but the painting is hanging up in the front door area and I couldn't get a better angle.  At the moment I am just painting to decorate our house which is very bland with hardly any pictures on the wall.  Also painting pictures for family presents, poor people, when you give someone a painted picture they feel obliged to hang it up even if they don't like it.  But we have a rule for grown up Christmas presents, that we only give presents that we made.  It makes you think and be a little creative and so much fun.

    Thank you, i have done in the past but have trouble actually getting them painted at the moment. the one above is in our house but would always be on sale for the right amount lol.

Cat pee Christmas tree, the saga continues

Well the cat pee Christmas tree saga continues. After days of sitting next to the said Christmas tree and thinking "I am sure I can smell a whoof of cat pee, stupid freakin Christmas tree (add more expletives here)". I decided I had to do something about it or I was going to throw the tree in the rubbish bin, which in itself would be difficult considering the size of the tree vs the size of our rubbish bin. How things have changed "In my day...."

I remember on long road trips my parents would give us the "back in my day" speech and tell us how it was when they were young. They described that there was no TV and when they did get TV it was only in black and white for a long time. "Wow no TV" we used to say but how did you survive, what did you fill your days with. This got me thinking, what will I tell my children in my "back in my day" talk, what has changed over the years since I was young. I realised that it is going to be a dam big talk over multiple road trips, as so much has changed. They are going to think we are sooooo old when I tell them that when I was little not only were there no cell phones our phones didn't have buttons on them and when it rang we didn't just pick it up, we had to wait to see if it was our ring, as we were on a party line. Litter bug (warning slight rant ahead)

I was watching a documentary last night on the degeneration of coral reefs in the world due to global warming (very interesting).   During the program the guy picked up rubbish out of the pristine sea and with a sad face plonked it in the boat.   It reminded me of being in Fiji.   What a beautiful Island that is, my husband was born there and on our visit we saw all sides of that wonderful country.   The most disturbing part of our trip was the resorts.   It saddened me that all these tourists who were sucking up what Fiji had to offer cared so little for the place that they just let their rubbish float out into the sea.    We used to enjoy Kayaking in this little bay at our resort.   Everyday when I took the kids out, there was always rubbish floating on the waters edge.   It was a different Fiji than I had expected to see.   Other visitors would just zoom on past all this rubbish, Kayaking out to the lovely reefs...
